This book was gifted to me from a friend who thought I may appreciate the ideas given in helping clients achieve lifestyle changes. Spot on! This book is loaded with practical ideas on what allows us to adopt a new habit (or take away a bad one). It’s easy to read and gives a summary at the end of each chapter which is helpful. I’ve implemented a number of the strategies as I’ve read it to help further develop a meditation practice myself along with getting into a better habit of doing mindful breathing activities at work on a daily basis. One of my favorite reminders in here is for when you get off track on your new habit. James suggests that missing one day can happen, but Missing two in a row is the start of a new habit (NOT THE HABIT YOU WERE TRYING TO CREATE). If you are still working on getting a new year’s resolution in swing or find yourself starting and stopping various habits–check out this book for practical ideas. Highly recommended!! Check it out at your local bookstore or online retailer (try www.Thriftbooks.com as a personal recommendation).
