My Story
Why I Do What I Do
Doug Hansen is a compounding pharmacist and Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner through the School of Applied Functional Medicine (SAFM), based in West Salem, Wisconsin. He has been working in a pharmacy setting since high school, driven by a sincere desire to help people.
After more than a decade in pharmacy, Doug kept seeing the same pattern again and again: people doing everything they were told, adding more medications over time, yet still feeling tired, inflamed, hormonally off, stuck with gut issues, or unsure why their health kept declining.
That experience led him to functional medicine — a root-cause approach that asks better questions, looks deeper, and helps people understand why symptoms are happening in the first place. Rather than settling for a surface-level understanding, Doug committed to an intensive three-year functional medicine training path, completing more than 100 hours of continuing education and earning certification through the School of Applied Functional Medicine (SAFM).
What We Do at Hansen Health
At Hansen Health, we help clients move beyond simply managing symptoms. Our goal is to educate, inspire, and empower you to rebuild health from the inside out using a food-as-medicine and lifestyle-first framework — supported by targeted testing, personalized protocols, and thoughtful supplement guidance when appropriate.
We specialize in hormone balance, gut health, thyroid support, and deprescribing support for people who want a more personalized path forward.
There are no one-size-fits-all plans here. Every client receives a custom roadmap based on their history, labs, symptoms, goals, and real life. We work together to identify root causes, restore balance, and create sustainable changes that support long-term health.
