Common Questions
Hansen Health is a consulting service and does not bill insurance. Some clients use HSA/FSA funds. We encourage you to check with your plan, but in most cases functional medicine consulting is not a covered benefit.
No — but it helps. If you have recent labs, bring them. If not, Doug can order appropriate labs or work with your current provider to fill in gaps.
Yes! Doug sees clients throughout Wisconsin via telehealth through our secure Practice Better platform. In-person visits are also available at our office inside Coulee Health in West Salem, WI (N4622 County Road M, Suite 101).
This is not a replacement for primary care. Doug spends significantly more time with your case, reviews labs through a functional lens, and focuses on the root cause rather than symptom management. Think of it as a complementary layer of personalized support your PCP simply doesn't have time to provide.
Recommendations are always personalized. You will never be given a generic protocol. Doug only recommends what is supported by your specific labs, symptoms, and history — and only what you're comfortable with.

With his pharmacist background, Doug is uniquely qualified to discuss deprescribing strategies. This is done carefully, collaboratively with your primary prescriber, and never abruptly.
